Albemarle, NC — The inaugural Summertime Sip Festival made for an unforgettable afternoon of wine, music, food, and fun in downtown Albemarle on Saturday, May 31, marking a successful reimagining of Albemarle Downtown’s wine festival.

More than 600 ticketed guests from 30 different zip codes, including visitors from as far as South Carolina and West Virginia, gathered in downtown Albemarle from noon to 5 p.m. to enjoy unlimited wine samples from 10 North Carolina wineries, which poured more than 50 varieties of wine.

“We’re so grateful to the wineries and vendors who helped create an incredible event experience. A special thanks goes to our dedicated staff, volunteers, and sponsors. This event wouldn’t have been possible without their support,” said Katie Lynn, Main Street Manager and Director, Albemarle Downtown. “The Summertime Sip Festival was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the charm and character that make our downtown so special.”

Guests checked in at Courthouse Plaza, where they were greeted with their tasting glasses and invited to participate in a “Guess the Number of Corks” contest. A glass wine carboy filled with corks challenged attendees to make their best guess, with a specialty wine gift basket awarded to the winner.

After sampling wines, festivalgoers could purchase by their favorites by the glass, bottle, or case. The festival also featured food trucks, artisan vendors, and a live DJ who set the tone with an upbeat party playlist that kept spirits high all afternoon.

The Summertime Sip Festival was more than just a fun day downtown. Proceeds from the event help the non-profit Albemarle Downtown’s beautification projects, small business grants, and community development initiatives. The festival raised more than $26,000 in gross proceeds to support these efforts.
