Stanly County Sports Hall of Fame Ribbon Cutting
A formal Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held on Thursday, January 29th at 4:00 PM to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Stanly County Sports Hall of Fame at its new downtown home. Moving from the Commons to the Stanly County History Center, 157 N. Second St., the Hall of Fame has been completely reimagined with a modern, interactive format. Attendees will be among the first to experience the new digital member profiles and explore regularly updated memorabilia displays. This is a public drop-in event, requiring no RSVP, and offers the community a first look at how the Hall of Fame will continue to grow alongside Stanly County’s athletes.
Washington. The Will to Win & Conquering Adversity 1732-1799
The Stanly County Historical Society has a wonderful slate of events planned for 2026 that are part of the celebration for the 250th anniversary of the United States. The first presentation, “Washington: The Will to Win & Conquering Adversity, 1732-1799” will be held on Thursday, January 29 at 7pm at Central United Methodist Church, 172 N. Second St.
