Wandering Wednesday: A Glimpse into Albemarle's History!
Did you know? The oldest structure within the original town limits of Albemarle was originally located about a mile stone outside Albemarle.
Clue: It wasn’t always here—it was moved into town around 1847!The home then became a rental property. The Marks family donated the house to the local Historic Properties Commission in 1975.

Throwback Thursday: The Freeman-Marks House 🏡
As promised, here’s the answer to this week’s Wandering Wednesday! The oldest structure within the original town limits of Albemarle is the Freeman-Marks House.
Originally moved into town around 1847, the house was donated in 1975 by the Marks family for historic preservation. It is now owned by the Stanly County Historical Society. Over the years, it has served as a general store, a law office, and a doctor's office.
The Freeman-Marks House remains a vital piece of Albemarle's history—truly a treasure of the past!
