Holiday Tour of Homes Will Return in 2027

The Holiday Tour of Homes depends on neighbors who open their homes to the community. This year, only one home was committed, so the board of Albemarle Downtown has made the decision to take a year off from the tour. Moving forward, the Holiday Tour of Homes will be held every other year, beginning in 2027.

Your support still makes a difference. Our Landmark Lounge series, featuring tours of historic downtown theatres, has been so successful that its proceeds will allow us to continue supporting our small business grants and downtown revitalization efforts this year. The work that the Holiday Tour of Homes helps to fund will also go on without interruption.

Interested in the 2027 tour? We know that opening a home is a big ask. To be considered for the 2027 tour, please contact Louisa Jane Hartsell, Administrative & Events Coordinator at lhartsell@albemarlenc.gov.

What hosting involves. Hosting is a two-day commitment of several hours each day. Each host provides at least two volunteers to staff the home and monitor the flow of guests. Homes are decorated for the season, and hosts do not need to open every room.

Get into the holiday spirit downtown

•         An Albemarle Downtown Christmas: Friday, December 4, 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Enjoy a tree lighting, pictures with Santa, performances, and businesses open late.

•         Albemarle Christmas Parade: Saturday, December 12, at 4 PM.

•         New streetlight ornaments: Look for new Christmas ornaments on our downtown streetlights.
