ADDC Sponsorship Package 2019-20

Volunteer

The ADDC is always in need of volunteers to serve on our committees (see below), to help plan downtown events, work on public beautification of Downtown, or assist with administrative support.

Committees

The standing committees of Design, Economic Vitality, Organization, and Promotion each meet monthly to carry out a Plan of Work that is approved by the ADDC Board each fiscal year (July-June).

  • Design: Makes downtown a beautiful, inviting and safe environment by implementing public beautification, public art, and assistance with Downtown building design. Click here to sign up and join the ADDC Design Committee for 2019-20.
  • Economic Vitality: focuses on capital, incentives, and other economic and financial tools to assist new and existing businesses. Email ADDC Director Joy Almond at jalmond@albemarlenc.gov  to learn more about the ADDC Economic Vitality Committee for 2019-20.
  • Organization: Creates a strong foundation for a sustainable revitalization effort, including cultivating partnerships, community involvement and resources for the district. If you have skills in leadership, volunteer recruitment, sponsorship solicitation, or grant writing, this group is for you!  Click here to sign up and join the ADDC Organization Committee for 2019-20.
  • Promotion: positions the downtown as the center of the community and hub of economic activity, while creating a positive image that showcases a community’s unique characteristics. If you possess a creative streak, a strong background in marketing, or enjoy planning events, this is the group for you! Meets the third Tuesday monthly at 5:30 pm in the Depot at Market Station; 501 W. Main St. Click here to sign up and join the Promotions Committee in 2019-20.

Other opportunities:

Stanly County Winter Wine Festival Committee: Meets monthly from August through February when the festival takes place. Recruits event sponsors and vendors, assists with promotion of the festival, and organizes logistics and volunteers to help the day of the event. Email ADDC Director Joy Almond at jalmond@albemarlenc.gov for more info.

Outdoorsman’s Bonanza: This fun raffle of sportsman’s/sportswomen’s gear takes months to plan, from advance ticket sales to day-of logistics. If you have experience with mass mail processing and/or data entry, we’d love to have your assistance in the ADDC office during the months of January-February. Email ADDC Director Joy Almond at jalmond@albemarlenc.gov for more info.

Green Thumbs of Downtown Albemarle: Do you have a green thumb? Do you enjoy digging in the dirt? Are you looking for a volunteer project for your civic or work group? Then sign up to join the ‘Green Thumbs of Downtown Albemarle’. The ADDC keeps this group informed of dates and times that we need help with seasonal flower planting, as well as planting our hanging baskets. Please email ADDC Director Joy Almond at jalmond@albemarlenc.gov to be added to this list. You will receive an email from our ‘signupgenius’ app as dates are scheduled for future plantings.

Santa’s Helpers: Does the sound of Jingle Bells get your heart thumping? Do you get wrapped up in the nostalgia of strolling through Downtown during the holiday season to window shop and enjoy the festivities? If so, then bring your Christmas spirit to join our group of Santa’s Helpers! Email ADDC Director Joy Almond at jalmond@albemarlenc.gov to find out about ways to assist at Downtown holiday events, as well as the upcoming Holiday Pop-Up Market & Welcome Center. Retail experience is a plus!
