Congratulations to the Mary and Martha Center for Women and Community Care on receiving the facade award for May 2016

The Albemarle Downtown Development Corporation (ADDC) chose The Mary and Martha Center for Women and Community Care to receive a Façade Award in May 2016. Located on 243 N. 2nd St., the center provides counseling, referrals, and educational services for women.

Presented quarterly by the ADDC, the Façade/Landscape Award recognizes a business that meets criteria to make their building visually pleasing and adds to the overall appeal of downtown Albemarle. The award is available to any business in the Central Business District, Municipal Tax District or Historic District in the City of Albemarle. Recipients are selected by the ADDC design committee.

In addition to the award, the Mary and Martha Center received a sign grant in the amount of $210.83. The check for the grant was presented to Jana Strukova, Executive Director of The Mary and Martha Center by Dana McDow, ADDC Executive Director; and Gina Martin, member of the design committee.

“The members of the Design Committee were pleased to choose the Mary and Martha Center to receive the Façade Award for May,” said Nancy Joines, chairperson of the ADDC design committee. “We felt that the landscape improvements compliment the updated signs in the area in front of the building, and that along with the rockers on the front porch, help provide a very pleasant, inviting atmosphere for clients of the Center.”
